educate the public about Oklahoma history.
Were your ancestors homesteaders? Did they participate in one of the
five Land Runs that took place between 1889 - 1901? We would be happy
to collect your family history and take the opportunity to preserve any
objects pertaining to the mission of the museum.
A. In the Carnegie, we collect items such as original documents, books,
furniture and archival materials related to the Unassigned Lands with
emphasis on the Guthrie area. This collection may include contemporary
B. The museum collections include items used between 1889 through
1913 in the Unassigned Lands, Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory.
These may include original documents, photographs and material culture
associated with government, business, social and educational entities,
household goods and personal items.
C. We will collect and preserve materials related to the State Capital
Publishing Company even though it is now operated as an affiliate whose
daily operations are maintained by the Logan County Historical Society.
What is a curator and what do they do? Curious? Become a volunteer and
donate your most precious resource: your time. We have volunteer
opportunities available year-round and we encourage you to become a
member of our friends group. If you are interested, please fill out the
membership application or give us a call at the museum. We'd be thrilled
to have you!
A. Members of our friends group have been involved in projects with
organizing the collections. They have helped gather oral histories. They
are indispensable when it comes to education programs, especially the
Victorian and Edwardian Fashion Shows.
You can also make a financial contribution to the museum.
A. The Historic Carnegie Library is maintained through an Endowment
held at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. For more information on
how to make a donation to help preserve the library, please use the contact

B. You can make a donation to our friends group directly. They help
support scholarships for educational programming to schools undergoing
budget cuts and intern stipends. Send a request via e-mail to:
